EMERALD Diagnostic Guidewire
Engineering Specification
The EMERALD Diagnostic Guidewire is a PTFE-coated diagnostic guidewire available in diameters from 0.025” to 0.065” and in lengths of 150 cm, 175 cm, and 260 cm, with a choice of fixed or movable core configurations and multiple tip shapes including J-tip, Bentson, Amplatz, and super-stiff options.
Clinical Benefit
That engineering breadth translates directly into versatile clinical utility. The PTFE coating significantly reduces surface friction during catheter exchanges and vessel navigation, while the movable core variant allows the operator to reshape the distal tip at tableside to adapt to tortuous anatomy or steep vessel angles without removing the wire from the field.
The super-stiff tip configuration provides the axial column strength required for balloon catheter advancement through calcified or heavily diseased iliac and femoral segments, and the J-tip remains the standard choice for atraumatic initial vessel cannulation.
