The Problem with Conventional Femoral Closure

Post-procedural hemostasis at the femoral arteriotomy site remains a time-sensitive and complication-prone step in endovascular intervention. Manual compression is inconsistent, and many closure devices rely on intravascular components that can pose risks in calcified or small-caliber vessels — leaving clinicians to choose between speed and safety.

The EXOSEAL Solution: Fully Extravascular, Fully Bioabsorbable

The EXOSEAL Vascular Closure Device eliminates the intravascular footprint entirely. It is the only fully extravascular, bioabsorbable plug closure system compatible with 5Fr, 6Fr, and 7Fr sheaths.

The EXOSEAL deploys a small polyglycolic acid (PGA) plug precisely at the external surface of the arteriotomy, sealing the puncture site through a simple 3-step deployment sequence — no suture-mediated closure, no metal clips, and no intraluminal components. The PGA material resorbs completely via hydrolysis, releasing CO₂ and H₂O as metabolic byproducts within 60 to 90 days, leaving no permanent implant at the access site.
